Aitor Karanka appeared in the press room at the Santiago Bernabeu to talk about the team’s important victory against Atlético de Madrid in a clash in which Madrid were the superior team: “It was a hard-fought game, but we were in control at all times”. He also reflected on the support that Mourinho received before the game: “He is a coach that always stands up for his players on the pitch, at Valdebebas, in the press room, etc. He is a coach that never hides”.

The Real Madrid assistant coach showed his satisfaction with his team’s effort throughout the match and never thought that the victory was in danger: “We controlled the match more because we scored first to make it 1-0. We didn’t have too many problems at the back and they didn’t create chances. At half time we talked about playing the same way and the team started off in much the same vein, by creating chances. It was a hard-fought game, but we were in control at all times”.
